I spent my 20’s residing in Manchester, working up and down the country as a project Engineer for various large scale construction companies. Manchester holds many fond memories for me, especially its wonderful pubs such as Pevril of the Peak, Marble Arch and Sinclairs Oyster Bar, to name a few. I also witnessed many, many great bands and satisfied my palate in its fabulous array of food establishments. Manchester is my favourite place in the world… having said that, there is nowhere like Bowland for its exhilarating beauty (and wicked motorcycle routes!).
Brewing is a very rewarding subject for me as it utilises a blend of science, engineering, art and psychology. It involves a plethora of rich, characterful ingredients that are simply a joy to work with, especially Munich malt and Nelson Sauvin hops… And more important than that, I get to sample beer as part of my job!
I have worked for Bowland Brewery for the last four years and from the eccentricities of the old milking parlour to this fascinating old textile mill, I have seen many changes. Right now is a new era for Bowland Brewery and I’m as happy as an enzyme in a mash tun to be part of it.
